MULTICULTURAL COALITION ON AGING OPPORTUNITY FOR MEMBERSHIP The Multicultural Coalition on Aging (MCA) is a coalition of agencies, institutions and individuals providing health care and social services to older people in the Greater Boston, Mass area inclusive of many racial, ethnic, religious, lifestyle and linguistic groups. Working together, Coalition members strive to improve the environment in which health care is delivered to older adults by increasing the knowledge about, and sensitivity to, cultural influences on health practices and health care delivery. This is what we call cultural competence and are working to encourage in our communities. Membership for the Multicultural Coalition on Aging: The benefit most often expressed by members is the sharing of information at meetings and opportunities to build relationships with colleagues at other organizations. The following are the formal benefits for those persons who meet the requirements of membership: · recognition as a member on MCA materials · identification as a member on the MCA web site – · one voting right for MCA issues per agency, regardless of the number of agency attendees* · receiving periodic electronic communications of common interest to members · networking with other agencies having an elder focus · being eligible for discounts for MCA events and programs Eligibility: Members: Individuals, agencies or organizations are eligible to receive the above benefits of membership to the coalition by submitting membership dues and attending monthly meetings. This fee is to support general operating expenses of the Coalition. *An agency can be represented by multiple persons to maintain eligibility for membership. Dues will be paid annually in the month of January. It is the responsibility of MCA members to pay dues on time and to resolve these issues in January of that calendar year.
