Boston, Massachusetts

Founded in 1994, the Multicultural Coalition on
Aging (MCA) is made up of over 75 agencies,
institutions and individuals in the greater Boston
area. The MCA is dedicated to the delivery of
culturally competent care, including educational,
clinical, and research programs for elders.

Goals:

1. disseminate information about healthy aging
between agencies and to elder individuals

2. increase both interagency linkages, and
individual access to support services and funds

3. create a culturally appropriate agenda of social,
educational, clinical, and research programs that
will address the needs of the community in all of
its diversity

The MCA meets monthly for presentations,
information sharing, inter-agency networking, and
advocacy for resources for the elderly.

The Coalition hosts bi-annual Aging Well
Together consumer conferences delivered in 10+
languages by bilingual, bicultural professionals to
share health information and increase access to
care for culturally diverse and limited English
proficiency elders.

Professional symposia are organized to focus on
cultural competence in the delivery of health care
and social services.
